Joining together to Pray for Rain!

Churches across the Permian Basin and Rock the Desert are proud to announce Pray for Rain which will take place Wednesday night, August 3, from 7-8:30. This will be an amazing time of many prayers for not only the Permian Basin and our community but also for the state of Texas, as we are all experiencing an unforgettable drought. This will be a time and place for all of us to come together and unite as one in the body of Christ to not only pray for rain but thank God for the many blessings and prosperities he has brought us. Please join us for this free event as we come together and pray for rain for the Permian Basin August 3 from 7-8:30 P.M. at Rock the Desert festival grounds. Rock the desert festival grounds will be located on North FM 1788.

Text to Give to Rock the Desert!

Text2Give is a way to give to Rock the Desert festival and enhance our ministries. If you want to give to Rock the Desert you can text RTD to 20222. This is a $10 dollar donation and you will have your name entered into a drawing that will take place Saturday August 6. Entering your name into the drawing puts you at a chance of winning a guitar signed by all the artist performing at this years Rock the Desert for first place and our second place winner will receive an iPod nano!

Rock The Desert "Spirit in the Sky" 2011 is fast approaching! Tickets are now on sale at the Chic-Fil-A in Odessa and at the Chic-Fil-A in the mall and on Loop 250 in Midland in addition to the Mardels in Midland. Tickets can also be bought at different locations in Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, Cedar Park, Wichita Falls and San Angelo. For further questions concerning tickets please e-mail rtdtickets@rockthedesert.com. The price of the ticket before the festival is $20 at any locations listed above or $25 at the gate. RTD is in need of numerous volunteers in any area during the festival. Volunteers for parking, merchandise sales and stage crew are in the biggest need of volunteers. If you want to volunteer you can do it by visiting our homepage, www.rockthedesert.com, then clicking volunteering information and filling out the volunteer form.

RTD 2011 is now featuring an FREE iTunes application for the public and followers of Rock the Desert!! This new iTunes app allows the community to have the ability to see what bands are playing at the festival, the schedule of when each band plays, and which stage they are playing. There is a GPS also built into this application guiding the groups at the festival from one location to another without being lost. Also if there are any free giveaways or updates concerning the festival they will all be posted on to the RTD Twitter or Facebook page which you can find on this application. An exciting feature is that people at the festival will be able to take photos and send them to RTD through the app and it might show up on the Jumbotron!

RTD 2010 was one of the festivals to date! Lives were influenced and impacted by Christ and even more were introduced to Christ! We are confident that the 12th Annual Festival “Spirit in the Sky” will meet your expectations as one of the premiere festivals in the nation! We hope you will be there! There are many exciting new opportunities for you to become involved with RTD in 2011, such as taking a Mission Trip to Honduras, to deliver the almost 6,000 pairs of shoes we collected at last year’s festival, or you could help with the 3rd Annual “Shoes For Orphan Souls” shoe drive in partnership with Buckner International scheduled for April 30 at Wal-mart in Midland and Odessa.

This year RTD will provide a designated campground for RV’s!
The area will be just to the north of the existing campground. Hook-ups are not available, but you will be in your area. Fill out the camping form on the web site and designate RV parking. Space is limited, so sign up today! There is no charge for camping!

RTD will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Largest Line Dance". On August 7th at the festival all the attendees will perform "The Cupid Shuffle". The World's record is 17,200 set last year in China. If you don't know how to do The Cupid Shuffle, don't worry we will have dance instruction on Thursday and Friday. Come on out to the festival and be part of the world record!

RTD will be heading down to Mission, TX on March 29 to build a home for a family who lives in a school bus. The family owns the land their “bus” is on but they have to “move that bus” and volunteers from RTD will be building them their own home. Extreme Makeover look out, RTD is headed to Mission! We will also host a “block party” on Easter Eve for the neighborhood around the home we are building. If you would like to contribute to the cost of construction or the Block Party you can call the RTD office at 432-697-4548. The cost of the project is $15,000. Your contribution is tax-deductible. RTD will also be delivering the shoes we collected at last year’s festival to orphans in Mission and across the border at an orphanage in Camargo, Mexico. Stay tuned to CBS-7 to watch the documentary covering the week in Mission. Tatum Hubbard and David Huertes will be covering the week in Mission for CBS-7! The top 20 entrants who receive the most votes will have the option to compete live at Rock The Desert Festival. The Live competition will be held on Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7, 2010 (10 each day). Each entrant in the Live Competition will perform 1 (one) song. The competition will be judged by Word Records. The winner from August 6 and the winner from August 7 will compete in the finals on Saturday August 7, 2010 on the main stage at the festival. Each finalist will perform two songs. The ultimate winner will be determined by 50% Word Records Judge(s) and 50% by audience texting their vote.

The ultimate winner will compete in Nashville for a development deal with Word Records. The Nashville competition will be held in September.
